- Rayls Sovereign gives each financial institution its own private blockchain, operated within its technology environment and controlled through its own data, keys and governance.
- Native connectivity allows institutions to move assets and transact securely across private networks and public blockchains
- The technology has been used in production for major financial institutions for more than two years and can process over 15,000 transactions per second.
São Paulo , 25th August – Weeks after the US signed the GENIUS Act into law and with the CLARITY Act advancing through the Senate, Rayls, the blockchain infrastructure connecting traditional and onchain finance, today announced the launch of Rayls Sovereign, an open-source, EVM-compatible financial system for banks, financial market infrastructures and institutions developing tokenised financial products.
The launch was unveiled at FEBRABAN TECH 2026 in São Paulo, where Parfin’s CEO Marcos Viriato presented on the next phase of institutional onchain finance.
Rayls Sovereign gives each institution its own private blockchain for managing onchain financial activity within its existing technology environment. The institution retains control over its data, security and governance, while secure connections to other permissioned and public blockchain networks allow it to transact and distribute assets beyond its own system.
This addresses one of the main barriers preventing financial institutions from moving more activity onchain. Private systems provide the control and confidentiality institutions require but can limit access to counterparties and wider markets. Public blockchains provide connectivity but may not offer the privacy or oversight required for sensitive financial activity. Rayls Sovereign is designed to provide both.
Rayls Sovereign is the evolution of the Rayls Privacy Node, re-architected and enhanced for institutional adoption. It builds on technology used in production by major financial institutions for more than two years, processing over 10,000 asset issuances per week with Núclea, the largest payment processor in the Southern Hemisphere, while introducing higher transaction capacity, customisable governance, a highly scalable architecture, open-source access, simpler deployment and easier integration with existing banking, treasury and custody systems.
“Financial institutions need a secure and practical way to bring assets and financial processes onchain while maintaining control over their data, systems and governance,” said Marcos Viriato, CEO of Parfin and core developer of Rayls. “Rayls Sovereign gives each institution its own environment for onchain operations, with the connectivity needed to transact across wider markets without forcing institutions to compromise on privacy or control.”
Connecting private institutional finance to wider onchain markets
Installed within an institution’s own infrastructure, Rayls Sovereign can be used to create and manage tokenised deposits, stablecoins, receivables and other financial assets.
Sensitive information remains within the institution’s own system, while only the data or cryptographic proofs required to complete an external transaction is shared. This allows institutions to transact with counterparties and connect assets to public blockchain networks without exposing confidential client information, balances or trading activity.
Rayls Sovereign also connects with existing banking, treasury, custody and data systems. Its APIs and developer tools allow institutional technology teams to integrate the platform without needing specialist blockchain expertise.
The platform can process more than 15,000 transactions per second and deliver settlement finality in under a second, supporting high-volume payments, atomic DvP exchange and post-trade activity.
Open source and available from launch
The core Rayls Sovereign platform is open source, allowing institutions to review, test, and deploy the technology without being tied to proprietary software.
Additional performance features, including Rayls Axyl, are available as premium modules and can be tested before institutions move into commercial production.
For institutions where privacy is non-negotiable, Rayls Enygma is a dedicated cryptographic infrastructure layer: using zero-knowledge proofs and confidential computation to protect sensitive financial data at every stage.
From launch, institutions will be able to access Rayls Sovereign through a public GitHub repository and a Rayls-managed sandbox, alongside product documentation and institutional case studies.
Proven through institutional use
The technology behind Rayls Sovereign is already supporting live financial activity.
Núclea, Brazil’s largest payments FMI processing $3.5T in payments per year, has run corporate receivables tokenisation on Rayls in production, at a rate of around 40,000 tokenised assets per month.
XP also uses Rayls infrastructure for USDXP, its fully US dollar-backed stablecoin, which launched in March 2026.
“USDXP proved that institutional-grade digital assets can run in production without compromising control or compliance. Rayls Sovereign extends that same principle further, giving highly regulated institutions like ours a dedicated environment to continue building.”
— Marcos Horie, Head of Digital Assets, XP Inc.
Nimofast Global, the institutional tokenisation platform of Nimofast Group, one of Brazil’s leading energy and logistics conglomerates, uses Rayls to bring energy, logistics and commodity-linked assets onchain, with a target of $100 billion in tokenised assets, and is among the latest institutions to deploy Rayls Sovereign.
“As Nimofast Global scales the tokenization of real-world energy and logistics assets, Rayls Sovereign gives us a dedicated environment where we set the rules — compliance, privacy, and governance on our terms — without disconnecting from institutional liquidity. This partnership is already moving real assets onchain.”
— Ramon Reis, President & CEO, Nimofast Global
Around 30 financial institutions have installed the platform, with Nimofast and XP among those already in production and further deployments expected in the second half of 2026.
Rayls Sovereign is publicly available from 25 August 2026
