“She Wants to Ban Us”: Cardano’s Hoskinson Slams Elizabeth Warren Over CLARITY Act

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson

The fight over U.S. crypto regulation just got more personal. Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has taken direct aim at Senator Elizabeth Warren after she doubled down on her opposition to the CLARITY Act, accusing her of pushing an agenda that goes far beyond one piece of legislation.

Warren’s Case Against the Bill

Warren hasn’t backed away from wanting crypto regulated — she’s said as much repeatedly. But in a recent interview, she argued the CLARITY Act, as currently written, isn’t the answer. Her core complaint: the bill was built to serve the crypto industry, not the people it’s supposed to protect. She says it doesn’t do enough to address corruption, safeguard consumers, or account for national security risks, and she’s accused the industry of leaning on lawmakers to shape the bill in its favor. What she wants instead is regulation that puts retail investors, retirement savers, and national security ahead of industry interests.

Hoskinson Says It’s Not About the Bill — It’s About Banning Crypto

Hoskinson isn’t buying Warren’s framing. He argues her objections aren’t really about fixing flawed legislation — they’re part of a broader push to shut down cryptocurrency and blockchain technology altogether, leaving little room for middle ground. He didn’t mince words, saying Warren’s ultimate goal is to ban the industry outright. He also framed the disagreement as generational, suggesting younger lawmakers are more open to blockchain innovation than veterans like Warren who’ve spent years shaping financial policy.

Adding to the tension, the Senate has pushed back its vote on the CLARITY Act until after the summer recess, with Majority Leader John Thune confirming lawmakers won’t take it up until September. That delay has cooled expectations across the industry — prediction market Polymarket now puts the odds of the bill becoming law before the end of 2026 at just 15%.

Hoskinson Still Bullish Long-Term

Despite the regulatory gridlock, Hoskinson isn’t losing sleep over crypto’s future. Speaking during a recent Midnight Discord AMA, he predicted the total crypto market could eventually attract as much as $10 trillion in capital, with or without the CLARITY Act passing. Still, he acknowledged that getting the bill through would matter — it would cement the U.S. as a global leader in digital assets and could speed up institutional adoption and broader blockchain growth.

The clash between Hoskinson and Warren captures a larger standoff in Washington: one side pushing for clearer rules to unlock crypto’s growth, the other wary that “clarity” is just another word for looking the other way.
